Bluefishtalk
We have a stripertalk thread,
Why not a thread for bluefish??? There are Big Fans of BLUEFISH!!! Any bluefish around the northshore??? I tried Plum Island yesterday and came up empty, even though the fishing reports in the local paper were reporting bluefish around. |
Blue fish are only good for 1 thing, tuna bait !
I had bluefish chasing my offerings in the canal yesterday.
I have been fishing the plum island area, the mouth, joppa, etc. so far no bluefish:crying: I kinda miss them!
I like bluefish!
Bluefish are fun. Many charterfisherman have had their day saved by the bluefish. At times here on the vineyard they are in more demand than bass and the buyers have paid the same for bass and blues.
I owe a lot to bluefish.
blues have been non-existent so far this season on the north shore...
None around Cohasset. Believe it or not, Bluefish is my favorite fish to eat! I like strong fish. Even my kids eat Bluefish, baked or grilled.

My dealer WILL NOT even buy bluefish <><><:agree:
Bluefish are great for business :kewl:
I don't mind bluefish.I've had the pleasure on more than one occasion of catching 20lb+ fish.Absolute insane fight.Any blue over 15 is an absolute blast.
A good single hook tin, wire leader,lip-grip and pliers and you're all set for some good non-stop action. |
Btw good thread riverrat.:kewl:
When I have really gotten into them, after a while I just reel as fast as I can to watch them try and kill the lure, then slow it down, let them catch it, with any luck they self release.
Nothin' puts a hurt on my casting arm like a day of monster choppers tearing up my Rangers, Ballistic missiles, and Line stretcher Surface Tensions. I love a day I lose count and need aspirins to recover. Hurts so good!

Bloooofish talk, keep talkin bloofish talk...http://www.miconejo.net/img/forum/icon_smile.gif
I don't know if they're around or not... I haven't been fishing in weeks! BUT I do enjoy the fight of a large one, especially if there are not multiple trebles on the plug I catch them on. Without hijacking the thread, can we share some recipes for those of us that wouldn't count them as #1 table fare but don't mind taking a few once in a while if we have company that doesn't mind the occasional "fishy" fish? |
Well, I hope the bluefish will be here next week!!!
I start 2 weeks of vacation on Saturday and hope to get into some big bluefish!!! I will report to everyone how the fishing is!!! |
I'm actually taking the dogs and bringing my rod to my absolute favorite bluefish spot tonight.
My favorite bluefish game is to remove the hooks and see if you can get one to hold on till it hits the beach. Its important to keep the rod to the side so you don't get hit when they let go.:tooth:

I like catching Bluefish to..:D

haven't seen any blues at all ,,,,there are still plenty of macs off the ma./nh coast which makes me think they just are not here or at least in big numbers. i luv fishing for blues,,pound for pound a great fight

I like catching them when there are no bass around. They're also great when taking someone new to fishing out, as long as you give them the warnings about the teeth.
As for eating, they're actually not very fishy tasting if you bleed them out immediately and get them on ice. This keeps them from banging around bruising their flesh and releasing the amino acids. That's what causes the strong taste. If you want a great appetizer, cut filets into thin strips, roll them up and wrap bacon around them. Then stick toothpicks through and grill them or throw them in the oven. People will think they are eating scallops wrapped in bacon. Also, the previously mentioned putting them in foil with lemon, mayo and breadcrumbs is good. If you like smoked fish, blues are great. I'd rather see the bass live another day and take some bluefish home if I'm in the mood for seafood. |
