i got issues
the internet on my pc doesn't work anymore. I am currently writing from a friends laptop connected to my cable modem. my connection just disappeared one day. my network driver failed (intel pro/100 ve). I uninstalled and reloaded and it worked for 20 minutes. now when I try to reinstall it doesn't connect. device manager will say the device is working, then after awhile a yellow excl. point shows up. I uninstall and reinstall and it doesn't work. No viruses show up using AVG. I was convinced it was a virus.. Any ideas? thanks until my next connection...

I had the same problem on my upstairs pc running xpsp2.There was a download from ms that fixed the problem. It took hours to discover this download.
I'm still staying at my dad's but I'm gonna head back home next Monday.I saved the download just in case.If you haven't fixed the issue by then I'll pm you the fix number. |

This is how I fixed the problem on my PC.Even though the article is about fixing a cd/dvd driver issue it worked for my network adaptor issue, though I don't know if my problem is the same exact issue you're having even though the end result is no connection to the network.
Download "Guided Help"(314060) in step 1(the green section). Step 2 is specific to a cd/dvd driver issue. How I arrived at using 314060 to help fix my issue I don't recall but it did work. But as with anything windows related...be careful and always backup before doing anything.I would also highly recommend creating a restore point before doing anything. |
