moment of silence
I ask that ya'll take a moment of silence to honor my fish killing weapon as it has died. my arra 1205 exploded casting a 3 ounce ronz tonite. not happy bout it. gonna be a battle with any type of warranty as I bought the blank at m&d's but cms built it for me last oct. gonna miss her. have spent more timefondling her than I have my wife. rip betty.

Mine did the same thing....nice rod otherwise.
Personally they did not honor the warranty, they said "this rod was crushed" which is total BS. Customer service is everything to me...and they really disappointed me. Maybe you will have better luck. |

I'd think the blank would be covered. I'd expect you will have to pay someone to re-wrap it. You might want to look at the SSU1201MH blank as well. A bit slower than the 1205 but faster than the 1201m. Casts VERY well in the 2-4oz range and handles fish in bad terrain nicely. The 1205 built conventional is still my favorite rod (the SSU I built is a spinner :yak4:). Fortunately, I'm too decrepit to break one casting.

At times like this there is nothing one can really say that will make a difference. In an effort to make an atempt at offering some sort of comfort, please remember she died doing what she was made for and in the end, there has to be some peace in that!!!!!

2 important questions in this matter
1. did you have a backup in the vehicle...or was the trip a bust? 2. were you into fish? sorry to hear about the loss...sounds like betty treated you well....especially in the past month or so |
Arras suck, they have always had to be handled with kid gloves and there is and was always the thought that this thing is a time bomb that could blow any minute, the history of that series of blanks prioves out that fact. I ve personally seen at least a 1/2 dozen blow up on different guys while fishing.
Just that experience always kept me away from them, imagine being on the beach, you just walked several miles from a parking lot, you find fish, thier willing, you land a couple, your buddy lands a couple it's a hit each time your offering lands in the water and blam! Your next cast your precious Arra blows up. Thats a comforting thought isn't it? It was enough to disuade me. Ive got a couple lami blanks that I beat the snot out of, one GLB1081M is over 25 years old and it still reacts like the day I built it and it has cuaght 1000's of bass of all sizes. The Arra series has issues and is not trustworthy. No wonder Lamiglas is pushing this new series. Like BigFish Larry said, move on, there are better blanks out there. Youn may fire when ready. |

The SSU is very nice a bit more whippy than the arra. It does handle the heavier lures but it doesn't feel like the arra. That said if feels really light! Very comfortable to fish with. I tell you what I like in that 10' ready-made class, is the St Croix 10' one piece Avid surf series. I bought it when my arra broke and I like it. Great back up to your customs and is the rod I take when I am going to get beat up. |

3 oz Ronz is actually 4.5 oz casting weight.... what is that blank able to throw? I have a 1084 Arra and it is fun to fish, but I know it has limitations too. Bought it used, in mint shape and cheap. That helps. Got it to throw lighter stuff, bombers, sluggos and 1-2.5 oz plugs. Anyway.. just wondering what the 1205 can do.
