Looking for dates on Mass Leg Tourney - Cape Cod Area :wavey:

No Joke - but that's why I'm asking. Normally we do Saturday afternoon but if we do Sunday, the traffic won't be as bad.

We can do the weekend before - apparently some good canal tides too

The Dad Fisherman 08-21-2008 08:17 AM

Isn't the weekend before this weekend?

hyefisherman2 08-21-2008 09:26 AM

for labor day weekend the tides in the canal are looking pretty good. also the new moon is on the 30th. ;)

Errr - meant Weekend After ;)

redlite 08-21-2008 12:37 PM

it would be better I think for the weekend after labor day. reason being it is short notice and most people are already locked into family stuff as it is the end of summer.
it would be nice if people Actually SHOW UP!!! this is the biggest, most popular sb web site with oooodles of members and lurkers, yet the same 10 people show up.
DON'T BE SHY PEOPLE!!

Rockport24 08-21-2008 01:07 PM

as an aside: ya know I don't think of myself as an innovative person, but this idea of meeting people from the internet, especially for hobby-related stuff and actually spending time (not just exchanging money for goods) still seems kinda foreign to a lot of people. Maybe we truly are innovators and ahead of our time?
that said, although I've done the cutty trip and talked to people at shows, I'd like to take part in more S-B stuff, but can't do the weekend after labor day

I thought the same thing until I went to the cape leg and attended TFCTFN. Also met a bunch of guys at 5/0's winter footbal bash too. Meeting people from a fishing web site seemed a bit strange, but most turned out to be real good people(except NIB);).
Actually most of the people I've met were known by someone I already knew and introduced to me.
Its not like meeting some stranger in a dark alley for the first time by any means. Besides, a clean cut conservative gent like myself would never do that...:eyes:

If you're thinking of showing up, go for it. Its a good time.

nightfighter 08-21-2008 01:59 PM

Matt, it's a good time. I just think we might consider a meet up point, go off to fish, then having the cookout AFTER the fishing.

hyefisherman2 08-21-2008 02:00 PM

id be in if it was labor day weekend at the canal. since i will already be in that area for the weekend.....putting in some time before i head back to school :(

Circlehook 08-21-2008 02:09 PM

I would like to meet more of you guys. The ones I have had a chance to meet and fish with turned out to be great learning experiences for me. Everyone is usually pretty quick with help or a pointer when needed.

Mike P 08-21-2008 03:20 PM

Sunday you might have some heavy volume of traffic coming off-Cape, but almost nothing going on-Cape. It should be fine in the area of M&Ds anyway.

Rockport24 08-21-2008 03:21 PM

don't get me wrong, I'd love to go, just making the point that might the reason not that many people go ya know? part of the reason why this site is so great is because the people are really nice when you meet them in person too!

Slipknot 08-21-2008 04:59 PM

I'll go Sunday if you bring that striper cup

we better bring extra food if NIB is coming

10/4 is the lure builders bash in rhody. 10/5 we can do. I had offered john the use of the place we rent down there for burgers etc.

hardbait 08-26-2008 09:23 PM

i am pretty new here what is the leg tourney.would love to attend.

Green Light 08-26-2008 10:57 PM

Like all hobbies, the more you get into it, the more you have to "expand" beyond your circle of friends. Online communities such as this one is a great way to exchange ideas and get to know new people. Besides, spending a lot of time alone in the dark talking to your self for expended periods of time under various weather conditions not perhaps good for one's mental health.

JohnR 08-27-2008 07:49 AM

Hardbait - short version is that it is an afternoon cookout followed by a Catch and Release Tourney for S-B members (like yourself) in local waters. Catch and Release a fish, witnessed by another S-B member.

Mass Leg:

OK - THIS Sunday is good? Down the Canal? Once I get some kind of consensus I'll run it by Mike to make sure its OK.

Please say if you are in or out !

Thankyouverymuch

The Dad Fisherman 08-27-2008 07:53 AM

I'm out....Family Cookout Sunday :gu: :gu:

Fishpart 08-27-2008 09:32 AM

Can't this weekend, family returning Sunday..

Mike P 08-27-2008 09:33 AM

I'm in for the Cape leg no matter when.
