hand carved swimmers

This is the other stuff I've been fussing with. Hand carved with plastic lips. These guys swim pretty deep, at least 10 feet or so. The bigger one trolls very nicely. the other I think will end up being more of a casting lure. I'm hoping I can find some pogies with some bass around them.

I've developed a whole new respect for the musky guys who make these type of lures all the time. Lip angle, lip size, how far back you place the lip, etc. all interact in ways that I had not anticipated. I now have a baseline... Next ones I will try to get to swim at about 4 feet deep.

Neat stuff. Try dropping the line tie lower or bringing it onto the lip for better stability. Like the taper to the side of the belly on the top one.
