finning dogfish

it seems at this time of year i always see giant schools of dogfish on top. are they just following the bait in,are they trying to warm up in the sun, breeding. anyone have a clue? there were so many of them you could walk on the water wed. we stopped and messed w/ them (the guy w/ me had never seen anything like it before) and put a pog in a livewell net and they would swim right into it. i put on a glove and snatched one out of the water.

I also saw them Wednesday by Graves light.
Sooo thick they were getting stuck on the outboard.
Clouds of fish were visible just under the surface too.
I had to stop twice to let the chopped up remains float off the power.

It was like driving the boat through MEAT......

I also noticed they were young, most only about 1 1/2 foot long.
I have seen this before and have no clue what they are doing.

Good thing they are protected !!!!!!!!:nailem::nailem:
