korker studs... c'mon man...
 

How oftenare you guys replacing your studs? I'll put new studs on, and after one night, I'll come back to find 11 carbide tips are gone.. not worn out, but broken or loosened out... then the stud gets round and just sucks... do you keep wearing them long after the carbide tip falls out,or do you replace as soon as the tip is gone... I felt the difference... I knew when I was missing a good amount as I navigated rock to rock...

I should but don't till completley flat.I'm really due now though.

You have some kind of infrastructure problem. I have to replace studs about once evry 10 or 12 trips. You state you are doing it after 1 trip. Something is very wrong with that.

The carbide tip is the piece that counts. If it's not there, on the studs, than the studs need to be replaced. I too know when they're missing.:kewl:

Get down to about DZ's weight and they should last longer.

Drill em out and replace them with ss bolts.
I get most of a season out of them

this year was the first that i used korkers, and i found the carbides didn't last too long, especially in the rocky boulder-riddled stretches i fish. like rockhoud, i drilled mine out and put 1 in. ss machine screws. i've had them on for a few weeks and they look like they have a ways to go. not to mention they stick like glue to the rocks. give that a shot and stop wasting money on those carbide studs.

I agree with that statement... I am 210lbs and my buddy is 180ish... and mine wear down 10x faster than he... although I tell him I fish harder than he does...

I have purchased Carbide screws for ATV tires and screw them in around the korker spikes... they last a lot longer and add that extra support when the spike wear down.

I hear your pain buddy... there is nothing worse than paying $75 for korkers and over a season speding $100 for spikes...

works like a charm. depending on where i go
varies the wear and duration of the ss bolts.
i also use ss lock nuts, #10-24 to match the
#10-24 machine bolts. pkg of 4 nuts .98 at HD.
i think it was 4.50 for 100 bolts at the Depot
