online source for evinrude parts?
 

'1991' 100 hp evinrude blew a piston. need a piston/ rings/ gaskets/ etc.....
Any online source for cheap{er} parts? or someplace local?

are you going to bore and hone the block because it really needs to be done, might be better off going for a rebuilt powerhead or finding a newer motor, probably around $900 for the parts you need, plus having the know how to assemble it correctly, not saying you don't but there is more to it than people realize, pm me if you would like some more info

the cylinder wall is perfect. not a scratch on it. the ring snapped and took out one little corner of the piston.
don't need a new powerhead.. just 100 bucks or so in parts.

how many hours on the motor? do you know what the bore size is? I'm asking because rings don't just "snap", not saying you cant just buy one piston and rings for it, but if you're gona go through the trouble of pulling the motor apart why not have it machined, that's the least expensive part, usually around $50-$75 per hole, pistons run around $100-$150 each depending on the quality you want(wiseco's don't last), then you need agasket kit another proabably $200, and then it's just knowing how to assemble, the main reason that you can't simply replace one piston is the the cylinder is perfectly round, the pistons by design are oval, when you break the motor in the pistons become the same shape as the cylinder, if you just do one it won't wear in the same way, not trying to belittle you just trying to save you from having to do it over again, we do about 100 outboard rebuilds per year, every once in a while we do one that someone tried to replace one piston, just don't want to see you have the headache
