Looks like this Nor'Easter will meet up with a tropical depression making a bee line to the north..

This was from the last storm we had come through here a coupla weeks ago - it's gonna be way bigger than this was. Fortunately the goofy old bugger has a wedding to go to on Saturday at the peak of the predicted gale and that will keep him off the rocks for a while.

I just watched the weatherman give the report while standing on the beach in NC..
kinda had the same look on his face that Joe did..

Hey NIB - the place where Joe is fishing - that's the same place where the bass stand in my avatar was.

If you go to the other pictures in my Album, you'll see the remnants of the iron pipes that supported that stand in the foreground of some of the shots :)

It was just drizzling here. Then it stopped. I guess it's here and staying for a couple of days. Those fishies are deep now. probably won't get any until Sunday. If we're lucky.

Seriously, I have not seen the typical feeds/blitzes in any of my usual haunts. There is some bait in and around the area but the only bigger fish I see are being taken by the local sharpies at first light- not a fall pattern. Ask any of the North Shore guys what type of year we have experienced and you will (in most cases) get the same answer. :fury:

Still a 1-2 punch though.
Depending on the amount of surge, given the wave height and duration of the storm(s), Dont expect to drive the whole trail along the south shore for a few days.... Probably have a few areas washed out...

i wouldn't expect a big fall run on the north shore this year. take a look at all the reports from north of us, not as many fish as usual came north this year. there are lots of quality fish around now, as there have been for about 1.5 months, but they are resident fish (for lack of a better term) and have to be targeted as such. this storm may kick off a run, but it will be south of us IMO. this is obviously just my opinion, and i hope i'm wrong.

I heard that fishing in this type of weather was a good thing. Is that true? If so, how do the feeding habits of the fish change?

What was perfect was I was the only boat on Boston Harbor (other than the coast guard 47 fter that was watching us like we had a few screws loose) :laugha:
Fishingfreak and I said screw the weather, I've got the boat that can handle this weather ! ;)
Got bait and headed outside the harbor.
I lost count of how many 20+ lb bass we released, and kept some
30+ lb bass, largest went a bit over 35lbs measuring barely 44 inches !

You missed it last night, Bry - BIG thunder on the point with some of the sets that came through :eek5:

With the duration between waves you had exactly ten seconds (one mississippi...two mississippi) to get your arse outta dodge to the high perch after you see the whitewater explode. Exhilirating in an odd way - that is, as long as you don't miscount.

Boy, the Tail looked impressive from where I stood - yowza!

And it's gonna be bigger tomorrow.

Oh, BTW, I made up my own MOB throw-bag for this event and hung it off my shoulder bag just in case - and sure enough, that goofy old Pt Judy bugger was out today on the Point when I got there :hs:

That place was all 4-6' square waves by the time I left at 3:30 - with 3 more hours of tide and swell to go :smokin:
