Cod Trip signup

I will be making some more calls today but it's likely we'll try to put a trip together on one of the Captain Jon boats out of Plymouth for Sunday, Dec 1st (no Pat's game) ...

Cost is $35 + 5 for rod rental if you need one. Plus figure we'll have a small S-B pool :D

I want to see how many would likely show up for this, please follow on to here.

Thanks,

John

tlapinski 11-22-2002 02:23 PM

i should still be in. what would be the recommended gear to bring? i have never been cod fishing, but i have enough stuff that i should be able to put together an outfit. will we be jigging or bait fishing?

JohnR 11-22-2002 02:58 PM

OK - I just talked to them. We could rent the whole boat but it wouldn't be any bargain dollar-wise - I did ask if we could bring 30 or so people as a group and she said no problem. So I need to verify that we can do this as a group if everyone can say yeh or neh if they are in...

Thanks,

John

Christian 11-22-2002 03:08 PM

john r- as you probally know by now im only 16 and therefore cant drive yet, its sort of up to my dad wether i can come or not, him being my only mode of transportation and i probally wont go if he cant come. do you think there will be enough room for my dad to come? (he is a member here but doesnt go on very often he just reads threads and sometimes replys) i really would love to come, i ll ask him tonight.what has the pool fish been the last trip(s)?

fishsmith 11-22-2002 03:12 PM

YEH

JohnR 11-22-2002 03:17 PM

Christian - no problem. I would like to see you go but like you said, being 16, I would want to have permission from your folks first, or have one come which really is fine, member or not... I'll PM you my home phone number...

And if anyone else wants to bring a significant other, son or daughter, or friend, just let me know as soon as you can and as long as there is room - that's fine...

Thanks,

John

Frank, going to Bear Moutain?

Fish_n_Dive 11-24-2002 09:41 PM

2 Things

1. what time must we sign up by?

2. what time does the trip start?

JohnR 11-25-2002 08:13 AM

OK - I'd say if we have a list by noon Wednesday - that should be good. If people still want to signup afterward or need to cut loose, an e-mail or PM will work...

The idea is to be at the boat by 6am Sunday morning. The dock is right near the rotatry in Plymouth Harbor - I'll put up better directions shortly...

Got Stripers 11-25-2002 08:19 AM

I'm going to be pouring up some test 5 inch grubs to bring along, which will be poured using a phosphorescent pigment. Question for the cod experts, what colors? What hooks size/style should I bring along for teasers? Also like to pick up a few jigs, what weights should I be shooting for, or will that be dependant on the day/conditions. Canalratt do you have any more of those jigs of yours, if so put me down for another.

fishsmith 11-25-2002 09:43 AM

Got Stripers,
Small lobsters and crabs are almost always in the cods stomach I catch outside of green harbor.
I've used whatever plastic I have on hand and had luck, thats the beauty of cod, if they're there, they eat.
With the recent rains they might be feeding on the small herring working there way south too.

Bliz 11-25-2002 09:58 AM

This sounds like a great trip!...
