Digital Video Recorders
OK - I'm not up to speed with these things. I'm looking for a Digital Camcorder so I can video tape some over weight wet suiters getting in and out of their skins, as well as family functions :).
I'm in the market for something simple, nothing outrageous....it's not like I'll be working for Larry Flint anytime soon. Looking for an easy to use, good sized display and woman friendly. Let's hear it, what do you have and are you satisfied with it? I'll be checking the flyers tomorrow for Sundays' sales, is there anything in particular that I should be looking for as far as options and such? Thanks - |
I guess no one owns a Digital Camcorder...:wall:
Here's what I found out - Hybrid cameras w/HardDrive can burn directly to a disc as well as a storage device, be it a hard drive or memory stick. The benefit of the Hard Drive type is that you can record hours and hours of video, view it, edit it and then burn yourself a hard copy. The down side, it costs more. With the mini-dvd style (No Hard Drive), you must record to the RW disc, then load to your PC, make your edits and then reburn the final copy. The upside, it's less expensive. As far as the other options, Optical Zoom, Digital Zoom, Nightshot, ETC/etc/ETc....these options are offered with both types. I ended up with a Sony Handycam, same camera had quite a few different prices, depending on where you looked. I think I got a decent deal. I walked into Circuit City/Best Buy.....they must have at least 40 different models, talk about making your head spin when you don't know what the heck you're doing...:jump1:, didn't help that the associates were clueless as well.....all they could do was read the advertising cards placed in front of the display models...:gorez:,,,,, there was no deal to be found at either store, I even beat Amazon/Cnet's price.....wow. Just wanted to say thanks to y'all for your feedback, t'was XXXtremely helpful. :uhuh: |
Bloo we got a canon dv recorder, it records to tape, and I got a sweet sony dvd recorder that I hookup to with a USB to put it on dvd. We bought ours like 3 years ago when we had the baby so we could record her first xmas. Good luck I am sure the technology is way better now.

Hey Specialist
You're right about technology being way ahead of it's actual users....We got the SonyHandyCamHybrid710 - not too many bells and whistles, but more than enough for me, nevermind the wife. Just when you think buying one is the hard part you now have to figure out how to use to it's fullest potential. :wall::wall: Thanks Bill ~ |
