guide epoxy fogging after 1 use
I'm assuming its the stuff im using but on the two rods I've made the epoxy, after being subjected to salt air it seems, fogs and looks almost marbleized.
Anyone know what is causing this? im using this product http://www.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Cata...oat-Rod-Finish |
Probably did not coat the thread all the way to the ends and water is wicking into the threads under the epoxy. this will cause it to cloud up.

ill try an get a picture tonight to show you what i mean
|
most likely due to a not properly mixed epoxy. this is the 3rd complaint i've heard of diamondite. or, this could be a bad shipment of the epoxy. contact the company. now, you either need to cut everything off and recoat or try another coat of that or another epoxy to see if that seals it. my guess is that it won't.

Check out the part where a Mud Hole employee states that Diamondite is not a rod finish, even though they sell it as a rod finish.:nailem: Mudhole gave me no answers but told me they forwarded my issue to Swifty Mfg.. And they blew me off. *Stuff was properly mixed, applied, cured, etc.. I am A N A L about things that could destroy all the labor I put into my rod. They'll both reap what they sew.:1poke: Before first use and after several uses. |
^^ EXACTLY WHAT MINE LOOK LIKE
that is very aggrivating |

Garnet Metallic Pewter This rod is like one of those girl's with the killer body and attitude, but a face that needs a bag. Super enjoyable in the dark!! J |
hahahahaha

Did you wipe the threads with anything to clean the dust or anything off before applying Diamondite?
|
Yes

Acentone leaves a white residue. :( Rubbing alcohol also leaves a residue. :(
DENATURED alcohol leaves no residue. :) I've never wiped down my threads before I apply the finish. I don't use color preserver. My rods aren't pretty to look at. Built purely for function and strength. That color combo IS very pretty. :) Sometimes the NCP thread I use gets a little fuzzy on the underwraps? Does any one know what causes that?? Am I burnishing it too much?? |
