This experiment is failing miserably.....

Tried the mythbuntu....doesn't recognize the tuner card. and being pretty much a dunce when it come to linux....I ended that experiment pretty quickly.

then it was on to Windows Xp....got it all loaded up and configured. 1st the usual can't play a DVD because of No DVD Decoder issue...I can live with that and try to get that working later.

Then I installed the Tuner card. I got the utility that came with it (WinTV) to recognize all the FiOS channels so i thought Hooray...but the remote that came with it doesn't want to work.

Then Tried Loading up Beyond TV....it didn't see any channels, and doesn't really give you an option for FiOS as part of the setup. Tried Digital Cable but that didn't do it.....figured it was the closest.

So I tried loading up Media Portal....it is giving me a dll error related to not having SP3 loaded., as well as needing SQL 2k5 personal..So i Service packed it and on the restart, since i had my TV set as the Primary monitor, it wouldn't come up on the TV or the Monitor so...it burnt down, fell over and then sank into the swamp.....err, I mean it wouldn't come up on the TV or the Monitor...so I can't see it and have to rebuild.....in the process of doing that right now.

been trying to set this up since 10:00 this morning...I give up for the day, after the rebuild.

I've installed Exchange and SQL servers that didn't give me 1/2 as much grief.

Update...Got the Tuner card working on the PC and have installed, and am in the process of, configuring MediaPortal, seems to be working OK but still some little bugs to work through/figure out.
