Merc outboard trouble
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey guys,we've got twin 200 Merc efi offshores. The starboard engine is sounding the oil alarm. Not the steady beep but the beep-beep-beep...... The engine runs fine, and starts right up after being first lowered, but after runing it,if you kill it,and start it back up,it sputters and doesn't wana start(it will start on the fourth or fifth try) As far as we know, there are only two parts with sensors, the fuel pump, and there's another little part just aft and above the fuel pump. I'm just hoping someone here could give us a little insight.Thanks,Bobby. __________________ |
Do a compression test before you go to far. The pump on that motor might have leaned out and now you have a bad cyl, thats why it starts hard and runs ruff.after the first start up, The piston heats up swells.

Thanks,Joe.I did't mean it runs rough after the second start. It runs fine, but takes a bit to start back up.

look on Iboats.com in the merc section
could be something very small like a bad tpi sensor I wouldn't run it. litle problems can get very big very fast |
