Evil Dead scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.

thefishingfreak 10-29-2008 10:46 PM

SAW

The Iceman 6 10-30-2008 08:22 AM

Excorcist by far.

The Dad Fisherman 10-30-2008 08:42 AM

The "1sts" of the Big 3 were really good

Halloween
Friday the 13th
Nightmare on Elm St.

Their Sequels were for the most part crap.

"The Omen" is another great flick.

"Poltergeist" had its share of Creepiness, another Good ghost movie is "The Legend of Hell House"

Halloween has got to be my favorite time of year for TV....can't swing a dead cat without finding a Horror Movie on somewhere.

Clogston29 10-30-2008 08:53 AM

the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre

for comedic value, Texas Chain Saw Massacre III

Cool.....we've gone into the Bad horror movie category...

Don't Forget

"The Last House on the Left" (one scene will terrify the hardiest of men, think 1/2 a hotdog)
"I Spit on Your Grave" (Talk about a bad day)
"Blood S#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g Freaks" (Best use of Tools, Midgets, and Naked Chicks ever on Film)
"Horror Hospital" (What really REALLY ugly guys have to do to meet women)
"The Driller Killer" (Ingenious in its Simplicity)
"2000 Maniacs" (a Whole new take on Toothless Southern Hicks)

I gotta go to youtube and see if I can find some of these trailers

There are a few B movie gems that are hard to find, but equally scary (at least when I fuirst saw them).

Horror High - a hish school jekyl and hyde thing. Best just for a paper cutter (medeval guillotine-looking things from the 60's and 70's)

Terror Island - Mutant canser cells that suck out you bones.

Zombie - Decent Italian zombie movie with a great eye-poking scene.

Shockwave - best scenes where the killer Nazi-zombies emerge from their watery lairs.

I spit on you grave - better bathroom scene than Psycho.
(I saw this one at the drive-in, and you could see EVERY guy cringe and grab his crotch after that scene.)

I saw "The Mist" this year, and after having read the Stephen King story, I was pleased with it. The only problem was the ending, since the book only went as far as them driving down the highway as the giant creature walked past them. The ending was the ONLY letdown.

"Reach out and scare someone you love!"

The Dad Fisherman 10-30-2008 10:23 AM

Horror High...I missed that one...saw the rest.

Swimmer 10-30-2008 10:43 AM

Original War of the Worlds:hidin:

FishermanTim 10-30-2008 10:47 AM

I forgot about the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre".
It's one of the most frightening movies with the least amount of true gore.
Imagine a movie where the "title" method of killing is NEVER seen in the movie? It was a cinematic genius that works the audience into a state that they imagine things that don't actually happen on screen.
That's the true test of a horror gem.

Man, I only wish that the cable stations that are showing horror flicks would break down and try and get something other than the same "Halloween", "Friday the 13th" or "Nightmare on Elm Street" ones they've been showing for the past 3-5 years. That's why I have my own collection of campy B-movies like "The Killer Shrews", "Attack of the Giant Leeches", "Them", and both "Creepshow" movies. This time of year, I need 2 fixes: one fishing and the other horror movies.

The Dad Fisherman 10-30-2008 11:05 AM

I'm telling you....they just keep putting on Halloween over and over again.

Where are the Classics, Where are the Giant Bugs......Where are the Guys in Costumes crushing Tokyo dammit...........

RIJIMMY 10-30-2008 11:11 AM

Exorcist and the Omen scare the crap out of me.
There was that movie , I thinks its the Ring? that was really creepy.

The Shining was pretty scary.
Burnt Offerings.
Silent Night Deadly Night

BatesBCheatin 10-30-2008 02:26 PM

haha that's awesome. :D I've seen most of those except 'Horror Hospital'. I notice at the end of the HH trailer it shows an ad for 'Corpse Grinders'. I haven't thought of that flick in 30 years! My parents took me to see Night of the Living Dead at the drive-in and Corpse Grinders was one of the flicks. I was about 7 y/o. What the hell were they thinking! ;)

Give me a good thriller anyday

Joe 10-31-2008 09:04 AM

John Carpenter's The Thing
The Exorcist is the best, but I like The Thing

FishermanTim 10-31-2008 10:43 AM

How about the original "Lord of the Flies"?
Can we say "What if kids were in charge?"
The way they slipped from childhood into brutality was eerie.

How about Michael J Fox in "The Frighteners"?
Comical ghost/life after death flick. I thought the old gunslinger ghost humpin the mummy was priceless: ("I kind of like it when they just lie there like that.")
