BigFish 11-06-2008 07:41 PM

It really is that tough out there Scott. The market like everything else dictates the pay so so many people are looking for work.....the pay ain't too good! Not bad....but not good!

UserRemoved1 11-06-2008 07:41 PM

I'm thinking if it's that bad out there I should be looking for some machine talent to assist me right now.

You keep your hands out of my "piles"!:eek5:

UserRemoved1 11-06-2008 07:49 PM

I'm gonna come and have you cut 20 sheets of plywood into toothpicks one at a time :)

Seriously Larry hope it works out for you. It's very difficult to make money in this business esp when you have overhead. There's too many guerilla marketers and illegals out there to compete against. Some days I wonder why I do at all.

BigFish 11-06-2008 07:52 PM

I am keeping it small Scott! I enjoy doing it and it is good money on the side. The tax BS makes it tough.......for the small amount of money I make at it in the course of a year I spend more time dealing with the friggin quarterly taxes and the Fed!:crying:

striperman36 11-06-2008 08:00 PM

it is going to get worse, a lot of large companies are working off their order backlog and nothing is coming in. Unfortunately it appears to be global so there isn't any offset to a slowing US economy.
The crazy thing though is retailers are reporting being 5 pct off same store sales.
Cisco is downgrading earnings by 12 pct.
My un-named employer has also announced lower earning but about the same pct and is tightening things up

It's not big numbers outside of auto and financial sector but there seems to be rising tension everywhere.

UserRemoved1 11-06-2008 08:02 PM

haha! You wouldnt want to be me then :hee:

striperman36 11-06-2008 08:09 PM

there would need to be 2 of me to be 1 of you

UserRemoved1 11-06-2008 08:12 PM

Give me Liberty

Larry, I'd rather work at that lumber yard in North Kinstown with that cute chick.

Really though, congrats.

1.2 million job losses this year through October, and I can't find a single qualified, reliable, part-time employee. And we pay decently well at the entry level for this field.

300 bucks for a Monster listing posted last week and not a single resume submitted.

The Dad Fisherman 11-07-2008 01:02 PM

A lot of people want full time, and also a lot of part time jobs don't come with medical...that could be a couple of reasons why.

post the info on it....somebody here might bite

fishsmith 11-07-2008 03:32 PM

for my commute, traffic is getting lighter and lighter, that's how I see the downturn.

UserRemoved1 11-07-2008 03:47 PM

Wow that is incredible. You'd figure if it was as bad as some say there would be a bunch of apps. What was the position?
