Weather stripping door-

Hope you guys could help.

I have the original front double dutch door on my 100 yr old house that leaks like a sieve no matter what i do.

Over the years i've tried the aluminum/rubber strips, aluminum/vinyl strips and the peel off sponge rubber. None of them hold up for more then a few months.

Has anyone ever tried the aluminum/brush strips or know about any kind of magnetic seals?

Thanks for your help.

dunno if you'll ever find it...

but i used to get the old printing rubber mats free from
the ole printing presses... and they have a real tough
canvas backing...stuff was bullet proof...

the rubber sealers they sell now are way to fragile.

I saw a story in fine homebuilding where they channeled the bottom of the door 1/2" wide and like 3/8" deep, then they used like innner tube folded in half and ran a length of romex down the middle of the tube while it was laying in the channel and used electrical staples to hold it in place. It was more for draft tho. I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks guys, good idea with the romex but i have a nice tight fit on the saddle, it's the sides and top that need the work.

I think i'll try the alumium/ brush as they say ait cuts down 98% on the drafts and has commercial application so it should hold up.

Gotta be betta than the wind tunnel i got now. :D
