REDFINS & NEEDLES; DRESSED TAIL HOOKS
WONDERING WHAT EVERYONE THINKS ON THIS. I USE DRESSED ON UNLOADED REDFINS AND MOST NEEDLES OTHER THAN SS NEEDLES & SCUDS.
|
I would think the dressed hook on the Redfin would kill the action.
I put dressed hooks on all my needles though.... |
My thoughts are, and I try different things as well, if it works for you, and the plug swims true, than so be it.
I have used bucktail trebles on plastic swimmer in the past, and I nailed bass with 'em. I have some needles I use with a dressed 6/0 tail. And I have feathered tail hooks for the needles as well. :) |

if it works for you, do it
as far as redfins, they're pretty strong (for lack of a better word) swimmers - if they can handle 10ccs of water, i'd think a properly sized dressed siwash would not be a problem. i've put 4/0 hooks on them when into good sized fish and they swim and catch well with them. a 4/0 treble is heavier than a 5/0 siwash i would think. in my opinion though, you'll do just as well without a dressed tail on most plugs as you will with. its about confidence. if the dressed tail makes you believe the plug will fish better, you'll fish the plug better and that will result in more success. |
