New Gear for Next Year?

I no sooner get my fishing gear stored for the winter and all I can think about now is what new gear I want for next year. Not a lot of stuff, just Certain stuff.

New Waders - no more boot foot waders, too clumsy.
D-ring connecters and rod holder - to clip to wader belt.
a couple needle and swimmer plugs.
- good to go.
Oops, almost forgot - Stripping Basket for the spring, maybe a William Joseph.

Rocco34520 11-30-2008 07:30 PM

Sounds like you have it easy!:jump1:

BillM 11-30-2008 07:50 PM

I just think it's funny that just when you put it all away the bug hits you all over again and you want more stuff. I wondered what other people are getting for next year.

*Bought a coil leash for my boga...
*could use a d-ring for my belt.
*A head lamp that lasts more than a month
*A small, cheap digital camera used just for fishing. cheap enough i dont
care if it breaks, but good enough to take good night photos.
*AND... as far a actual gear goes, honestly, I want to LOSE some plugs...
I'm willing to bet that if we all owned only 5 plugs, we would catch on them all, and gain confidence in them... for 2009, I am getting myself a new outlook of BARE BONES MINIMUM... I'm sick and damn tired of having a 40 minute conversation in a parking lot where someone shows me 50 shiny new plugs one at a time... seriously... pick 5, fish 5 til you make it happen. but thats just me...

RNC 11-30-2008 09:11 PM

A new locking rooftop rod rack, preferably a Hunter piece.
More needle fish lures.
a 132 1M 11' Lami
Henderson Titanium Hyperstretch 7mm wetsuit
Hunter's blunt edge knife.
More lanyards and D-rings.
And someone thats willing to fish with me 3-6 nights/week for at least 4 hours a night.

Grab a UK Vizion headlamp from REI. I got mine for under $30. Waterproof, swiveling light with a spot/flood white light,a red light, and an on/off button on the side you cant miss. runs on 3 AAA batteries and has lasted me all season so far.

ivanputski 11-30-2008 09:17 PM

Im willing to fish 6 nights a week, 4 hours a night, june-september in the 'gansett area, since I have the whole summer off and thats what I already do... alone. no one I know has the schedule or the desire to keep up. If you need company in the summer, give a shout!

RNC 11-30-2008 09:22 PM

I might have to do that.

ivanputski 11-30-2008 09:25 PM

I checked out that light online... looks nice. only question is, can you turn on the red light and then turn it right off? what im trying to say is, my current light sucks since thr red turns on first, and then in order to turn it off, I have to click it 4 more times, cycling thru bright white modes to get back to the OFF position. I want to use the red light only most of the time without ever flashing the white except for when i actually want to. thanks for you responses!

slingah.....check out these dr. slick pliers. i have vs titanium pliers. for some reason i took them off my belt at home. went fishing the next night and luckily had these in the truck. i used them for a month and half and didn't miss my vs pliers at all. i'm sure they would have seized up eventually but i did nothing to maintain them and they worked great.

it's the pisces model:

http://www.drslick.com/products_plierswithcutters1.asp

I think they retail for $30.

Rob Rockcrawler 11-30-2008 09:43 PM

I think i am down to just a pair of waders on my to buy list. Wanted a 704z and got that last week. There are a couple plugs im going to get, then i should be done. I bet i can justify getting another rod by march, i will think if a location that just begs for a certain rod.

ivanputski 11-30-2008 09:49 PM

The pisces model of pliers are actually made by a company that allows outfitters to buy large quantities, and place their name on it... I own a pair that I got from cabelas, and I love them... bass pro also has them... 29.99 on sale till tomorrow for 9.99 I bought another set at that price... i could be wrong and dont mean to come off like I know something, but those ARE identical to the ones i bought. I bought a VS 200 this past fall, and it was a serious inner struggle coughing up the cash. I am confident that I will NEVER buy VS pliers...no way.

BigFish 11-30-2008 10:02 PM

A Hobie Kayak is tops on my list along with a VS reel for the surf! Need a new headlight, I got a new conventional rod coming, gotta get a makeover for my 1205.

capecodkid 11-30-2008 10:12 PM

Canal Plugging stick
VS 200
GSB 120 1m from CMS
Red Tibor Riptide:drool:
Maybe new waders

Pete F. 11-30-2008 10:40 PM

Want?
GSB 1201L and a VS200 but that would get rid of the better part of a thousand dollars
Need?
A new pair of manley type pliers. I always snap the cutting part. Open to suggestions
Some 8/0 Siwash hooks to rig eels
A dozen HT-100 drag washers for 704s and Squidder
Aluminum spool for a 146 Squidder
Some braid for that spool
A relief zipper for my wetsuit
A waterproof digital camera(probably a want)

Cutco knife: http://www.cutco.com/products/produc...itemGroup=5721

Back Beach 12-01-2008 08:53 AM

I'm building a completely new arsenal of rods, four in total.

Will probably get an optio W60 camera.

Stradic or Sustain 5000 reel.

RIROCKHOUND 12-01-2008 09:06 AM

I need to stock up on Terminal tackle; rigged eel hooks and such.
otherwise, no major purchases.. I've been looking at a new light spin reel for travel and light duties up here, mine is a bit beat..

Bronko 12-01-2008 09:15 AM

1205 spinning is definitely on my list, other than that I am all set!
