Im a big fan of Shimano products I've never owned a Shimano stick before after reading the Specs.it looks like traditional Shimano constrution.

Where do you intend to use it beach,canal ,jigging ,plugging ,eeling or chunking the lure weight is 3oz and under this might be a little light if you plan on using snakes like you got this Fall.

There is a 10ft rated 3-6 oz. I planned on tossing my heavier surface plugs and jigging in the canal with it. I don't know if they make a rod that will cast a 12 pound eel.

the Limited Lifetime Over-The-Counter Replacement Warranty what dose it entail that's a pricey stick for the price G-Loomis has a no question asked warranty and St.Croix warranty is good

Understand that the guides on this rod are Fuji Lowriders (LC) which typically have a 20mm gatherer guide.

I personally love the Lowriders but I know the prevailing wisdom in the NE is for spinners to be more traditionally rung.

Anyone elses take on the guides would be great. Thanks

A friend has a 10 footer and likes it. It's a graphite comp rod and seems a little wimpy at the tip to me. It's a great caster though. He has had issues with the reel seat sliding around and constantly needs to tighten it up.

The seat slider looked like a great option. I'm guessing it's not locking? Is that his only problem? That's something electric tape would be fixed with. Once weighted and aligned I would tape it. What was his rated for? I'm not looking for a whimpy 10ft that's rated 3-5 to toss plugs. Did he have the 3-5OZ?

He has the Med 10 ft rod -100M2 with a rating of something like 1-3 1/2oz.

His reel becomes mis-aigned with the guides due to rotation (he uses a vs200) maybe this doesn't happen with a Shimano reel. If you get this rod balance with the reel of your choice and then put a dab of silicone on the screw-in butt cap so you don't loose the weights and cap as well.

I personally wouldn't pay that kind of money for a factory rod made outside the USA. It has too many "features" that could be problematic.

After attaching the Vs to that rod I'm going with a Lami. The sliding seat seemed like a great idea but your right. It doesn't lock correctly and the reel was not aligning. Thanks guys.

I own two of these rods, the 10' and the 9', both in the heavier action. I love them. I haven't used them with mono though, strictly braid. For a two piece factory rod I think it is the best on the market. I work in a tackle shop and I'm a guide. I use these rods for their durability and sensitivity. They cast beautifully, the grips are very comfortable and I like that I can adjust the reel seat, especially for my clients who all have a different preference.

I used the 10 footer hard this past season. The only draw back that I had to it was that the butt (where you can screw off the butt to add counter weights), it rusted. There is a foam ring around the butt and this came unglued and then the butt cap rusted. Other than that I am very happy with this rod.

I didn't cast eels with it too many times, only a few. I got this rod strictly for pluggin' and I use my customs for eels or throwing really big plugs. The Shimano can handle it, but I recommend it for throwing plugs 1 1/2oz to 3 oz, even three ounces isn't optimal, but okay. I've used it to cast Tattoo's 3oz Darter and it did a fine job. I'd rather use my 11' custom graphite for 3 oz and over.

Plus, the best part, if you break it, bring it back to a Shimano dealer and they'll give you another one over the counter. Hard to beat that warranty.

I've never had a problem with the reel seat. It locks and never moves.
