decent winter read
pick up a book from the libiary called "tuna, a love story" bu richard ellis. it follows the story of giants from yesterday and right up to the tuna ranches of today. comparing the way they fished for the big boys in the 20"s and the way they do it today, it's amazing that the old timers ever caught anything. it also describes the sorry state the fish are in today. mostly, you got it, politics. interesting read.

Thanks Eddie - I guess it's no secret that that sort of historical stuff on the fishery is right up my alley -
I plan to get some reading done this winter between all the futzing around with my tackle - I'm gonna put that on the list. |

When you read that stuff it's both amazing and saddening - amazing to try and grasp the abundance, saddening to realize how little we have left. It's also cool to realize who fished the same spots you do today - and what they were able to do with equipment that we now consider primitive - which was then state of the art. |
excellent!
