Jim Hodder,
Played on a lot of their early songs including Dirty Work, Do it again, and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6j1Ol2rRxzY |
Jim Gordon,
Jim was a major studio guy in the 70s, recorded with everybody! He was also the drummer for a few of Eric Clapton's bands (derek & the dominos) Jim co wrote the song "Layla" with Clapton (Jim wrote the piano 2nd half of the song) Unfortunate Jim is/was NUTS !!! Beat his mother to death with a hammer because he "kept hearing voices in his head) he's still in prison to this day ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zm0Iq5ebU9U |

Guitar players.
This is a pretty good mix of Dan's guitar solos. (played pretty well) Most are the work of Larry Carlton (who of anyone was close to being a full band member) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZs4pK-aBuE Skunk Baxter did the work on Reeling in the years. |

Great stuff. Steely Dan are my 3rd favorite group of all time behind the Beatles and the Smiths. They were #2 while I was in college in the 70's. Can't Buy Me A Thrill was the first record album I ever bought.
Recent stuff is a little too jazzy for me, but their earlier music is classic. I think it was Denny Dias along with Skunk Baxter doing the guitar work on the earlier albums. "Is there gas in the car? Yes, there's gas in the car." |
Way to monopolize a Thread there Ron......:hee:
|
yes denny dias. I would have mentioned it but no you tubes of him. I looked. I knew Ron would have fun with this one.

I only "monopolized" the drummers they used. I haven't even started with some of the great sax players, back up singers, keyboardist/piano players, ect..... |

I named first Dog Aja after that album. SD has always been one my favorites since college.:smokin: |
