He was Elway before there was an Elway.

What is keeping him out . He has a better completion % than Fouts , Tark, Bradshaw. He has a superbowl win wtf. I think the people who vote must have a "Reason" to not vote him in. I think it's B.S.

Winning one Superbowl does not mean you should get into the HOF....do you think Trent Dilfer should be in? Mark Rypien?

and the other arguments......Fouts had almost 16,000 more yards in the same 15 year career span

Bradshaw had 4 Superbowls......nough said there

Tarkenton had 19,000 more yards and 148 more TD's

I just looked at Stablers stats and the thing that sticks out that might be keeping them from voting him in is that he tended to throw a lot of picks

of his 15 Seasons he only had 5 where he had more TD's than Interceptions....that might be what they look at....and there is always politics involved too.....Did he piss somebody off on the committee? That I don't know

I think he belongs in there too....just offering up a reason why maybe he ain't getting in....I know the HOF ain't just stats, its Heart too, which he had....but there has got to be some reason

I read that article when i was poking around.....interesting to say the least. Shame the guy lets some personal BS get in the way

After he retired, Bear Bryant was asked by a reporter who the best QB he ever coached was. Everyone expected that the answer would be Namath. Without a half-second's hesitation, the Bear replied "Kenny Stabler".

Kenny "The Snake" invented the 2 minute drill !!!
Long before Joe Montana, John Elway, and Tom Brady were leading their teams to last minute wins "2 minute drills" Kenny invented it during the 70s, in an ear that the quarterback called all his own plays
Also
As for stats, Kenny played in Oakland's bombs away offense where completion % is always going to be low.
Kenny burned some bridges with more than a few writers who will never vote for him as long as they are alive !
There were also his off field issues that pissed people off (drinking, partying, womanizing ect.....) a big reason Al Davis shipped him off to Houston.
Bottom line,,, The Snake was a winner !

Gino Cappeletti should be in also.
