lead core or mono??
 
this season i plan 2 do some trolling 4 stripers. i never done much trolling b4, i pretty much just plug. i just built a 6'-6" conven. and put a shimano charter seires 2000 reel on it. now i don't know if i should put lead core line or mono on it?????????

Lead core is a good way to start out. Some stick with it, but most move on to wire of various lengths.

What type of guides did you put on the rod? That can be a concern.

Lead core will get u down to 30' or so...Wire will get u deeper...
Start of with Lead, much easier to work with,,,then once u get the hang of things and feel the need to go 30+'...give lead a try.

Remember when tying knots with the lead core...remove the lead from the core before tying the knot and tie the knot with just the Dacron...I use Albrite to tie lead core to mono and a Palomar to tie the lead core to a swivel.

Leadcore -- trolling with mono is the proverbial piss in the wind.
