Anyone use it or have any sort of review of it?

Still remember my first cast ever of a 4oz jig using 50# PP. Couldn't cast again for a week.

For the rest of the season, cloth medical tape wrapped around my index finger kept me somewhat wound free. Works great on days I don't catch any fish, but as soon as it gets damp it's useless and new tape doesn't stick well after either.

I've been using these for a couple of years....work well for me and they are cheap. I go through 3 or 4 a season.

I use the aquaskins gloves and they were great. Ive heard good things about the finger shield as well.

I also love the gloves. Maybe my favorite piece of surfcasting gear. I lose about 4 right hand gloves a season. Gets expensive. :gorez:

Let me know if anyone wants to trade right hand gloves for left hand ones. I have a few extra.

I hear ya Luds. But they are priced right at $20. I dont mind going through a couple pairs a season.

you could try water proof med tape.
My roommate is a tech at the hospital and gives me a roll from time to time. I keep the whole roll in my bag and it gets dunked.

adhesive still seems to work even when wet.
Once in a while they will slip off.

Go conventional and lose the gloves :)

I second the J&J waterproof tape. You can even reapply on wet hands.

Oh right, now I remember the last time you used one of my conventionals and I spent about an hour removing the bird's nest. So, on second thought, gloves are a good idea and they will also keep you from breaking a nail. :rotflmao:

Here's the problem with the Aquaskinz finger guard---it only comes in one size, and hands don't.

That's exactly my concern, especially since I have elfish sized hands.

I was gonna get one at Xmas for Sauerkraut, but figured he'd have trouble picking his nose while waiting for a fish to eat his eel.

i also prefer the old-school method,,,,,,,,,,

cloth tape, no problems as of yet.

Just cut a finger off of your wifes dishwashing gloves. Works like a champ. Better take the whole glove though when ya cut the fingers off. She will most likely notice.:jump1:

John, start grinding your hands in a bucket of sand everyday, great for callouses and by summer you will be crushing walnuts in your hands. Then when you backlash our gear you won't burn your thumb.

Don't you start with me too. And for the record, I did better casting yours while it was almost wide open than Paul's. I think it's just a matter of Paul being cursed.

I was thinking about the gloves myself, but with my luck I would forget them. I use a piece of inner tube taped on with waterproof medical tape. Works pretty well and I keep it consul storage and a spare in my surfbag just in case.

I saw those woven leather finger guards up at Surfland - They look like they might slide off.

gotta love the gloves. if i manage to forget them i have a roll of athletic tape in my counsel that works just fine and holds fairly well when wet.

If by "cursed" you mean letting you use my gear, then I'd agree. :cheers2:

I got a pair of the Aquaskinz Gloves I use when the weather gets colder....they work great also.

My son has a pair he uses when he goes canoeing too..

I am on the pro staff so I am definately biased.

I will say that what I find great about the AS Finger Shield is that it works for both my index finger when casting a spinner and on my thumb when casting a Conventional.

I use both the gloves and the sheild depending on what I am doing.
They are both priced right.

The reason I think they are a good chioice compared to other products is the sensitivity I get while still having the kevlar over the neoprene to reduce wear.
Sure, they will wear but a lot slower than other gloves with similar sensativity. Of course, just like everything else it helps when a littel effort is taken to care for them like rinsing out once in a while.

I have the exact opposite problem--long, thin palms and long fingers. The Velcro attachment straps only reach the heel of my hand.

You should be able to get a good fit by crossing the attachment straps farther up your wrist.

Thanks Mike. I'll just have to try one on. Anyone know of a shop between 495 and Truro that has them in stock? Probably heading that way in a few weeks.
