Display Case Part 2

Here's the finished case. A few guys were looking for ideas so here is what I did.

The front is a 24"x36" picture frame that I put lexan in. I used 1/4" plywood for the back and dado cut into the sides. All joints were glued. The piano hinge was set in with a rabbit cut to make the case close nicely. I put a support arm on 1 side only as I couldn't find a right sided one.

Using a frame for front presented a problem for the lock so I used a shelf pin for the catch. It will only keep honest people honest. To hang it I used a french cleat.

For the inside I used homasote (Thanks Tagger) and stapled the fabric on. (thanks again Ed. I was going to use glue) Sometimes I can't see the forest through the trees.:)

This probably should have gone in the scuppers..... But I don't want to retype it. I type slow;hunt and peck....

The support arm rubs a little, but that is ok. It's not like it will be openned very often.

The reason for the lock is to keep BM's sticky fingers out of there. Nice job

Probably a stupid question but how do you keep the plugs in there when you hang it on the wall?

Not a stupid question. I had to ask the same thing a while back. There is homasote under the green fabric. T pins are used.
