they ( the Bureau) are calling it
........the "Mega Storm" .........

this is definitely :point: NOT a joke...

it is not even on the news yet....
nor will be ....for awhile.......as they plan for it
as Pres. Obama's most major challenge

it is predicted to be the biggest ever
and will make 1978's storm look like
a cake walk.........

up to 10 inches of Rain .... possible

it will affect the whole eastern coast
from New Orleans to Nova Scotia

I got it covered i built an ark a year ago and have been stocking it ever since.

its actually a 10-1 ratio....so 100 inches of snow.

yeah one inch of rain equals about 1 foot of snow - supposedly

so there fore 10 inches equals 10 feet of snow

Until then I'll just go inventory milk and bread reserves for now -

one loaf and one gallon for each litre of Jim Beam X 6" of snow

Well, if you remember back in '93 we had those two blizzards which dropped 20+ inches and 30+ inches around New England. The intensity of those storms was blamed on an abundance of tiny particles of volcanic ash hanging in the atmosphere after the recent erruption of Mt. Pinatubo, and that was in the Pillipines! With the particularly volatile Pacific storm season and the impening erruption of Mt. Redoubt in Alaska... maybe this super storm is possible. I am not a meteorologist, nor am I going to insist that anyone attend a meeting to save the volcanos. :hihi:

I just went on Ebay and ordered a Holstein Cow. The milk ain't free so I figured with the "Big Storm" and all! Heck, it can mow my lawn if this turns out to be a poor prognostication!:tooth:

You plow out past "10 foot snowpile"......past the "field of 40 foot drifts"......:wave: wave at the lighthouse keepers son as you turn past "snowed in road".......and you say to yourself......"I am a snow plow driver dammit"....and there is no better feeling on earth!:hihi:

From the weather channel

The next big weather maker will be a winter storm, forecast to develop Sunday night over the Northern Gulf, and track northeast, impacting the Eastern States Monday into Tuesday.

This has the potential to be a strong winter storm, impacting areas from the Gulf Coast, through the New England States. However, the exact track and intensity still remain very uncertain.

For now, the general thinking is that heavy snow and wind could impact parts of the Interior Northeast, Upper Ohio Valley, eastern Tennessee Valley and southern Appalachians.

Wind, rain, and possible flooding could impact eastern areas of the New England States, including the bigger cities.

Rain will initially impact the Southeastern States, but also has the potential to end as snow and wind as the storm moves northeast.

I been so busy with so many fisheries management issues that I completely missed the news about "The Big Storm".

Raven, I can't thank you enough. I would have woke up in a couple days and who knows if I would have made it through at all. At least know I know and have a decent chance at survival.

Ok...I still go time to get a few things ready.
1. Fill 55 gallon barell with beach sand in case it is only a few feet of snow...check
2. Fill 55 gallon barell with gasoline and put in basement...on second thought the basement might flood so i'll put it in the living room.
3. Fill 55 gallon barell with potable water and put in kitchen because i don't want fumes from gas barell ruining the taste of my drinking water.
4. Put empty 55 gallon barell in bathroom...'nuf said

Ok, running out of time...no more typing...I gotta get movin.

i have.........

the volcano erupting in Alaska will be a contributing factor i'm sure...

with global warming you have essentially global melting......
more fresh water sitting on top of salt water equals more evaporation which equals more precipitation or rainfall

these youngins have no concept other than the storm of "78 "

we did not learn.... we are sitting ducks with so many homes on our coastline now,,,,

Rav, when it comes to weather events, believe me, I take the world serious -

Outside of old fish pictures, the other thing I collect is stuff regarding the '38 Hurricane - I've got the actual ProJo printed on September 22, 1938, it's amazing to read it - and I grew up hearing that stuff from my parents and the rest of my family and their friends here in Newport.

And no, wisenheimer, I wasn't there at the time...:fishslap:

But I do remember Carol in '54 and it scared the crap out of me as a little kid - some pretty vivid memories for a 5 year old going around with my dad after it passed -

Missed the '78 Blizzard, though - I had just driven to FL with a buddy that week and the day it hit I was sitting in Palm Beach nursing a sunburn and drinking a cold beer...:gu:
