chumming rips?
 

Hey,

I was thinking the other day while watching fishing shows about setting up a chum line in a rip. Has anyone tried anchoring on the shallow side of the rip (obviously this would be on a slow moving tide/calm day) and let the slick go down through the rip to the deep side. Then casting/chunking from there? I've never seen anyone do this but I'm sure someone has. Could be cool to cast a fly rod into the slick as well. I mainly fish off Monomoy so that's what I'm think of. I'll probably chum up some seals if nothing else.

Guys do it for Bonito/Albies all the time. Silversides are supposedly best if you want to avoid bluefish.

I've done it before, just bury the hook in a piece and let it flow with the chum slick naturally, disengage the reel or open the bail. When the fish hits thumb the spool and put the boots to em engage the reel or close the bail.
