Built a headboard for a queen sized bed. Upgraded with 712 crown molding. The red paint took 5 finish coats..... Have one more on order to do.

do you have a shaper or is that with a table saw? is that anderson mcquaid moulding? what is 712?

RIJIMMY 02-12-2009 02:53 PM

thats amazing great work

Thanks guys. It is nice to see the finished product at delivery. I should have been taking photos of all my stuff, but....

Bruce, the 712 is a poplar crown that is just a bit more fancy than the Brosco wider crowns you see carried at most lumberyards. Pricey but not too much used in the headboard. (Did a whole house with it last winter, along with replacing casing and baseboards. It does make a statement! So did his materials bill.) Here is a website the profile, it's the 4th one down.

Hoping to get a few more such orders to keep busy in the shop, as I have had a kitchen and a bathroom, both with permits pulled, indefinitely postponed.......

nice work but it reminds me of the 3 Stooges episode where they were in a Scottish Castle and that bed that slid in and out of the wall with that same kinda headboard , have you tested it out for stability you know banging aginst wall during $EX ,Something Clammer dreams of.
really nice work I can't even match up a 45 deg angle if you came to my house and I've done all the work to it you can tell a Trucker did the work:eyes:

Cleat screwed into studs , then headboard secured to the cleat and baseboard. That thing ain't moving, or making noise.....

I always overbuild....
