More cutbacks for fluke this year....

looks bad again. I tell ya, I would really like to know exactly how they compute how many fish were caught by recs. I was on the water a bunch last year and given the fuel crisis there were VERY VERY FEW and some days with no-one out there fishing for fluke in the big named spots. How is it we take another 24% cut? when without question much fewer fish were caught last season then in the past decade? I am sure there must be some assumptions in their calcs that are bogus. (Like every rec fishing every day 7 days/week taking full limits)

Frankly, the size limit doesn't bother me but the shorten season does.6/10-8/1 (5 fish) OR from 7/7-8/15 (3 fish)...we are about fishing just a few couple weeks here now. IMO the best fluking occurs in mid June and again in late August.

I would like to see the limit go to 20" , a 3 bag limit and the season go from 6/1 to 10/1

Where can someone find out exactly how the fluke catch is computed?

Try the MRFSS website. It won't give you the exact formula but it will give you a general idea. As to how the specific state regs are devised, you'd have to delve into a bunch of documents on the ASMFC website. Basically they have table that show the catch at different limits for the various areas.

I'm glad I have my comm permit, those regs suck for the rec angler.
