Give it back to the French

After reading all the poltical posts and seeing the unrelentless dedication that many of you lefties have, I can only agree with what a Vietnam POW told me when I was younger:
"We should have left the french keep New England, and exchanged it for British Columbia or the Yukon." Wake me up in eight years and hopefully you can tell me that ole Barry saved the country but I fear that in eight years we will be a socialist state and our founding fathers that fled Europe and Big Socialist government for Freedom will turn over in their graves. Bring Back Ronald Reagan....If only Barrack Hussein Obama meant what he said in his inauguration speech...Look at the bright side, all that overtime you work is going to buy lottery tickets for all the lazy government dependents that let you work for their living...

And not for New England, there would not be a United States. The history of this great country has been full of great push and pull between the states and the people of it - more of the same.

I also don't like where we are right now but think it is not too late. If GWB and the Repub party had not spent so much time tripping over its wank the past 8 years, Barrack "Hussein" Obama wouldn't be at the helm right now. "Hope" carried most of the middle of this country, McCain (who this middle voted for) did not.

If the republican party can exorcise its Optical Rectumitis in 4 years mayber there is chance for more balance.

It must really suck to hate your country so much that you'd give up a significant portion of it.

Besides, how will the right leaning states keep from going bankrupt w/o the money the left leaning states send them? I guess my overtime goes to those states:wavey: It must suck knowing every time you drive on a new road, the people you hate helped pay for it.

RIROCKHOUND 02-18-2009 09:43 AM

PaulS, There is a great book by Jared Diamond called 'Collapse' hits that right on the head, basically looks at Montana, and the fact that w/o NY, CA etc. states like Montana would have folded financially by now....

The superiority of New England civilization is quite evident.

Have you been to Lexington/Concord/Arlington lately? They are not the same New Englanders that fought for our country. Biggest bunch of pansies in the U.S.

Welcome to the site Turkeyslayer.

Bryan, Based on your previous recommendation I read that book.

Thanks

I don't hate anyone. I don't start posts about people who have opposing political views to mine and suggest that they leave the country and my posts frequently express sympathy and concern for people less fortunate then me so I'm a little confused.

I doubt that "the people" paid alot more of any public project than me b/c I'm lucky and fortunate enough to make more $ and consequently pay more in taxes that the vast majority of the population (and I'm glad to do it b/c I love my country and don't plan on leaving or suggesting that anyone else leave:laughs:)

Welcome to the site Turkeyslayer.

So how much of Mansfield's "former glory" is left in the main drag?

I'm pretty conservative, but I'd never give up New England. We can send some of the deep south over to France, though. That would be fun to watch.

Is it even possible to play Dueling Banjos on the French Horn?

The Dad Fisherman 02-18-2009 11:28 AM

And for those that don't like New England....leave. Its pretty Simple....

I've lived in the Midwest, West Coast, and the South...and hands down, New England is the best area of the Country...period

people are leaving. I dont think any states in NE have grown population wise. Jobs, winter, home prices, etc are driving people. Nothing to do with political ideologies, but NE's influence is shrinking rapidly.

Not when you're hiding under the bed.

I love New England and wouldn't move unless I had to. Close to mountains, ocean, culture, etc... And most of all, my family is here.

Mountains could be bigger.... But hey, the Rockies are just a short plane ride away.

Swimmer 02-18-2009 12:04 PM

Where would France be without all the New Englanders who step off the landing craft into a hail of 50 cal. fire in "44"? The French should pay off our entire national debt for what we did for them. Only Germany ever gave us the money back it cost us to liberate them. France never even offered.

I wouldn't trade any liberal here for anything, nothing. Well, maybe for an entire collection of lures made by Bigfish, Afterhours, and Booger , but nothing else. One has to have priorities.

No really, I have been to other parts of the country, but I can't wait to get home. And I have to admit that the republicans worked pretty hard to lose the election.

The only good thing about France is the Cirque de Soleil!

Sorry went a little overboard with my reply.

RIJIMMY 02-18-2009 12:08 PM

I loved living in San Francisco and would move back there if I could afford it. Everyone out there is trying so hard to be unique, but they can't come close to a straight, conservative guy like me, I'm one in a million in SF.

Our Founding Fathers fled Big Socialist governments in Europe?

I must have been asleep the day they taught that in my American History class.
