but they sho' nuff work!
i had to do a field modification last summer to my Korkers. i was lacing them up at the beginning of my night and the straps shredded on me. just so happens that i had some of that cheap camping rope one gets at HD and some duct tape lying around in the feeshmobile. sooooooo; four bowline knots, some burnt ends, and some duct tape later i was back in tha surfbidness. i even ended up landing sum that haunt :btu: :btu: :btu: funny thing is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,they fit like a GLOVE!!! very snugg and works well with both styles of waders i use. FUGLY or not, becoming one with my studs(also modified) and one with the rocks and weeds/slime has provided me with greater safety and better rock hopping performance. it's nice NOT to have to think about my footing when following our prey during the fight all over the peaks and valleys of the NShore. :uhuh: :uhuh: :uhuh: |
Not bad, neccesity is the mother of invention..
I do something similar to mine.I just use a heavier lace..Like hokey skate laces are good.. Another addition you might want to try..Take the appropriate size hose or rubber tubing and slide it over the nylon straps cut the botton like a T and take a stainless nut and bolt and bolt it to the bottom. This will keep the rocks from slicing thru the strap.. |
thanks NIB,
good ideas,,,,,,,,,,,, you are talking about the side straps that the rope gets laced thru, right?? i'll have to give it a go. there's STILL time. :uhuh: :uhuh: :uhuh: :uhuh: |
SoCo Style tops these

WTF is wrong with taping your korkers on.
Been doing it for years. |
EZEEE, Bryan,,,,,,,,,,
i don't think he said it was wrong, just funky looking from an aesthetics point of view. and i waz just saying how there is no need for tape with THIS particular modification. nobody is attacking yer STYLE, bro. hey, whatever werks is my MOTTO! :kewl: :kewl: :kewl: |
Korkers are for pussies.

I couldn't agree with you more. Add levelwinds and fishing gloves to the "pussy" list also. :laugha: Any man truly worth his salt either fishes in felt soles or even better, barefoot...:musc: |

Me and everyone I knew used to tie then on then ducktape them right to the waders. Duck tape over ducktape over ducktape all season long. Everybody wore redball boot foot waders in those days. I still prefer the boot foot style. Once put on they never came off until the next season when we started all over again the same way. If you didn't ducktape them on you would invariably walk right out of one and not notice until it was too late to find it.
|
Honestly, every time I ever wore korkers it either resulted in a trip/fall or a near drowning. %$%$%$%$ those things..
Wearing korkers reminds me of the three stooges episode when Curly puts the guitars on his feet and says "Look, snowshoes." Same thing when my 4 year old tries to walk around the house in my sneakers..it just gets ugly.."Daddy, my feet are too long," he says as a lump forms on his head :laugha: |
BB, I'm clumsey enough, with Korkers , I'm deadly! Plus, I always lose the right one. I have 3 left Korkers.
|
Nice work BD .I grabbed a pair of the Korker boots with the replaceable soles. They are pissa. Not like wearing a double sole.Comfortable and do fine in the sand.No Fat camp this year for us fat guys so I have to invest in more spikes.Gained it all back from last years fat contest.

Actually if you tried the studded wading boots you would find that you too can walk all night. There is bare rock in bubbleweed, look at a rock that is covered with water you'll see how it grows. The first time I used them instead of Korkers I felt like I had a new pair of PF Flyers. I think I just dated myself. |
i hear ya, Pete,,,,,,,,,,,
i used to LOVE my PF Flyers by Keds. i'm just busting Nebe a bit. i've used both and my hipwaders are felt soled. they are nice,,,,,,,,but with slopes and steep jaggedness, i'll put on the Korks ~~everytime. and the clickinandclacketyclackin' that comes with them seems to attract sum BIG, BIG, MOOCOWS! :uhuh: :uhuh: :uhuh: |
Jess,:btu: as long as they do the job. stay safe Woody
