The Postal Service is a Fortune 100 business. Self-funded and a business just like any other. Executive relocations are a pretty standard thing in the business world. Based on that article, however, it does sound like their relocation program has been a real bust.

For what it's worth, that same house would probably be over $6 million in most of the Route 128 suburbs.

Not really - they have a legal monopoly - and thus are immune from the affects of competition.

Also, the USPS is probably months away from jumping on the bailout wagon.
