what wt. plug for XRA 1322-2
I have had this blank for years and never did finish wrapping it but after doing a search I am unsure of what weight plugs I should use with it. I am pairing it up with a conventional reel to fish the ditch. I am going to the MSBA show tomorrow and if I might try to get to SWE to hear D.J. Any advice on plugs to purchase would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Ed |
Great pencil popper rod for the canal
should toss 3 ounce pencils a mile bottle swimmers too |
It's sweet spot should be 2 to 3.5 oz's

3.5 max ... 3 is perfect ... it says 5 but I wouldn't.. I have an older one ,, bought blank new .. I've heard cracking noises..
|
It handles 4 no problem, and I wouldn't hestitate to throw 5 if it was the only rod I had with me, and I needed to throw 5. It doesn't really like throwing 5, but mine's 13 seasons old and still in one piece ;)

To me its a plugging rod .. I use another stick for jigging ..

So around the 3oz. wieght it is. Thanks for the advice everyone and I was figuring basically plugs and maybe eels. Now I just got get it down to M&D's and hope Mike will find time for it, he said he's got about 15 rods ahead of it (probably more now:().

I'm with Mike P.
I use the 1322-2 a lot. 2-4oz lures with 145's 220, 229, 7000, 7500, 6500, and a 525. Great Rod. I used it some down at the outer banks with 5oz and bait and had no problems. Mine has stood up extremly well. sean |
