More motor troubles coming!

National News from The Associated Press

Agriculture Sec Vilsack calls for moving quickly to boost ethanol blend limits in gasoline.

WASHINGTON (Associated Press) -- Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says the government should be able to move quickly to increase the amount of ethanol allowed in gasoline.

Vilsack told a farmers convention that the cap on ethanol content in gasoline should be increased from 10 percent to 12 percent or 13 percent "fairly quickly" without causing problems to car engines and equipment.

It is up to the Environmental Protection Agency to lift the cap. Ethanol producers urged the agency last week to allow a 15 percent ethanol blend. Automobile and small engine manufacturers said there's no certainty yet that such an increase will not harm engines and fuel lines.
Vilsack spoke to the National Farmers Union annual convention Monday in Arlington, Va.

Good luck trying to use more than a 10% ethanol blend in a vehicle not designed for it.

Ethanol is a big lie anyways, it's less efficient than gasoline and because so much corn is being diverted to ethanol production it's driving up the cost of feed for livestock which leads to higher food prices.

So we end up getting worse fuel economy and paying more for groceries. Sounds like a winning combination!

no way.....

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...n-GUYS/WTF.png this "is" BAD news

...Cars and boats are running crappy enough already :hs:

they need to promote Biodiesel not Ethanol !!!

Not to mention the effects on the world grain prices.

That's BS.... $$$$$$ They need to fix the existing problems b4 they create new ones....

How ironic that the Former Iowa governor would push this.

Let's not forget the significant increase of pesticides and fertilizers that will bleed into the watershed.

Corn is not an efficient crop for producing ethanol over the long term - there are many, better alternatives.

corn vs algae

corn takes 6-9 months to grow

algae takes 2 weeks

algae out produces corn 10-1

for alternate fuel production.

the industry of Algae has only just begun

typically it's in a very sunny area like the South or out west...

Come clean my pool. I didn't open it last year. Algae free for the taking.

TaJon I just watched a show on this. Very efficient to make and convert to fuel. They are doing this in the desert as we speak. Corn is ultra inefficient for this process.

I was just talking to the Blueseal (feeds) rep. She told me that the price of feed doubled as a direct result of ethonal production.

my cousin and uncle have the largest dairy farm in MA. I spent my childhood there. They are can barely make ends meet becuase the feed is so expensive and they grow corn on thousands of acres, not enough to feed all the cows. Pretty sad.

Corn farmers are laughing themselves to the bank over this. Switch grass is also a viable alternative as I believe it doesn't deplete the soil and grows faster than corn
