COD fishing

i went cod fishing out of plymouth harbor sat...privite group 30guys, boat was a little to tight for me:jump: but o-well. we steamed for 3 hrs @ 11kts .my group:buds: fished the starboard stern .we fished in about 275 to 300+ ft on the east slope of stell/bank about 15mi north from p-town tip .i could see monument barely.. as we steamed i checked out everyones rod n reels n gear some were good, some were dumb, and some were clueless... first time i have ever saw a man with a:fishin: 6 ft spinning rod and reel w/braid to cod fish, thank god for braid .. i fished w/ 50 and 30 lb braid w/ a 17 to 26 oz jig it was the only way to tend the bottom for 30 sec with the speed of the drift. fish were a mix bag of small cod and haddock up to 9 lbs.. lots of shorts.:wall: great livies for tune bait...it was a good time sunny but cold winds blew nw at 10 to 20 water temp was 39 # so it was cold. i got 4 keeper cod and 1- 7lb haddock ..so fish and chips tonight.....
