Hair stacker
 

Call me cheap but I think hair stackers are over priced. Does anyone have a make shift type....what other methods are there. I've always eye balled my buck tails.

Could you cut a straw to the size you need and glue it to a block, or drill a hole to size in a block.

TAP the ends w/your finger from your outher hand ,
TAP.TAP,TAP,TAP,TAP,
then PULL out all the ones you dont want.
now that must have saved you $3.00.

Try using a plastic pill bottle like pharmacies use to fill prescriptions. (The cost depends on your health plan) ;)

I've also used a ballpoint pen cap for small amounts of bucktail.

I agree with SD. Never used one for saltwater tying, never saw the need to.

I use a 5" length of 3/4" copper tubing with a 3/4" copper end cap. Initially, the cap will fit with some slight friction. As it is used, it loosens a bit, but no problem. I simply attach the end cap, insert the hair (usually bucktail), tap a few times on the cap, slide the cap about halfway off, tap on the side to bring the hair back down to the end cap, remove the cap, and voila! Works great and the 3/4" dia. allows easy entry of the hair into the tube. Good luck. ;)
