Keeper Countdown

In New England, where (general area) & when will the first fresh run 20# come? RI, CT, MA?

30#?

(yes, this is an annual question we've heard before )

I'd say upper CT river, but I don't think those fish are Hudson/Chesapeake migrants.

I'd say next week(April 1) a 50 will be taken at Deep Hole.

Really though, early May in the canal is a good bet for the first 20 and 30. Numbers of good fish will show up two weeks after that, as will I...:fishin:

CT River is a very good bet though!

CT and Thames rivers will both produce 20-30 pound fish starting early April but I'm not sure they are fresh fish. I think fo the most part early on they are the larger hold overs that are moving after the herring/alewives coming into the rivers.
