i had a customer call me the other day and say she was having a problem w/ some replacement windows that they installed. this is what i found. it was a first for me

BigFish 03-27-2009 08:53 PM

Paul your kidding me right? Is that for real???

niko 03-27-2009 08:53 PM

instead of removing the old sashes, they just removed the screens and put the replacement windows over the old ones. on top of that the new ones don't go all the way to the top. lesson = don't drink and renovate folks

BigFish 03-27-2009 08:56 PM

Paul...curious....how did they attach the new windows to the .....ummmm.....outside of the house??? Or should I ask???

You should get a load of the "DIY'ers" that come into Lowe's....they have no idea what they are looking for or at yet they are going to do the work.......THEMSELVES!!!!!:buds:

nightfighter 03-27-2009 08:57 PM

LMAO.... Charge them double to watch and learn while you do the first one! I get 200 a window complete.

niko 03-27-2009 10:03 PM

larry, there is like an inch if caulking around the outside of these things. they must have gone through a case of it. it's probably the only thing holding them in place. ross - you ready for cod

Duke41 03-28-2009 07:29 AM

lol

Nebe 03-28-2009 12:38 PM

NO WAY>>> :rotfl:

Slingah 03-28-2009 12:45 PM

that takes the cake....good luck on that one..

BigBo 03-28-2009 03:00 PM

To top off the shody workmanship, it looks as though they had Andersen windows. Probably no need for replacements. They were had.

redcrbbr 03-28-2009 04:25 PM

It is still hard to believe even with the pics.

I don't think you can tell just from the pics. Even good windows installed improperly can have water issues...and then even some top brands have defects that cause water damage.

That being said, it's still pretty funny :)

Well thank you for always taking issue with whatever I post. Glad to see some things never change. :smash:
I said they look like Andersen windows because they look identical to the Andersen sashes I have in my house.

Swimmer 03-28-2009 08:25 PM

Its those guy from Guatamala again. Chewing those green leaves and hanging windows don't mix. Like Scott said I'd charge her double.

fishaholic18 03-29-2009 04:17 AM

Musta been a redneck:shocked:

BigFish 03-29-2009 05:21 AM

Yeah BigBo...get your head out of your arse!:bshake:

:rotflmao:

TheSpecialist 03-29-2009 10:15 AM

look like the replacements came from homies. I agree with BigBo on the other sashes.

Slipknot 03-29-2009 10:27 AM

:shocked: LMAO :laugha::huh::eek5::eyes::jester::faga:

:hs:

WOW

You should see some of the "professional" work I've seen done over the years :rollem: not anywhere near that but you get the drift. Some people have no business in the business. Niko, I guess they figured replacement windows meant replace the storm window:err:

I will use any and all opportunities to dump on Pella windows. They are the absolute WORST. And the company will not stand behind their product when the seals fail, which they will. Pella always claims installer error and sticks it to the homeowner or contractor. There are two new homes on Marblehead Neck that had THREE sets of Pells fail. Both homes now have Marvins, the contractor for one is holding the bag, and both homeowners are tied up in court fighting Pella corporate for $$$.
Their sliding doors, ok. Windows; absolute crap.

spence 03-29-2009 11:25 AM

Marvin makes a great product but they can be $$$.

It's a shame your Pella experience has been so bad. They're a great company to work with (big customers of ours) and have worked had to keep production in the USA.

I've heard of customer support issues though, perhaps they just don't make them like they used to. My father's lasted 30 years before their first failure!

I've been in construction all my life and I ain't never seen that before!

Hope they didn't pay up yet!
