Herring in Eastham

I saw about a dozen on Saturday at the Cole run. And for the water temp... http://www.oceanweather.com/data/ Even the largemouth have been biting. It's all coming together nicely I think.

I know the unofficial start for stripers is mid-May. I was wondering how early people have gone out after they first see herring and caught what their best guess was a migratory bass (non-holdover)?

I'm thinking of starting a new tradition of beginning my season on the weekend following my birthday (May 3).

the RI guys will need to chime in here to confirm, but some spots in southern RI see fresh fish in Mid-late April. Up around my parts it's May 1!!

I know. But I'm still pretty ignorant to these parts. My experience is the Canal and the Race. I've been jonesing so hard, I may start prospecting the Canal in the next few weeks.

I usually catch my first schoolie down here around April 25 and the first keeper no later than May 9. At least the last 5 years.
