Looks like the shore multiplier has been lowered to 1.18

also, for $15 more you can register in shore and boat.

Multiplier is getting dialed in. About time they allowed for boat guys to fish the surf, but 5 bucks would have been enough to pay. I was going to just register shore, and tell them it was boat fish if I were to get one...

Bad idea for two categories. I smell a lot of shore fish for Team Striper.Mark the date;this all but guarantees a repeat for the current champs.Ha-ha.

is the shore/boat category a category of its own to go along with shore and boat separately? or if i registered for shore, for an extra $15 i can be registered for both of them? if its the latter, it sure will be an interesting event. i always give people the benefit of the doubt, but when there is a lot of prize money at stake, who knows if a person signed up as both boat and shore went out one night, caught a 50# from his boat, and said he caught it from the shore... and they will just have to believe him. seems kind of chaotic to me, but thats just my opinion.

Why would they charge any extra money?

I'm with you Gunpowder. I see a lot of big boat fish being brought in under the shore category. Probably the reason they decreased the Shore multiple.

Problem is, now the good shore fishermen like redlite are at an even bigger disadvantage.

My opinion, from looking through the awards on thier site, is that they are down at least one major sponsor "Boaters World" and they are looking for a few ways to boost revenue. third place weekly is now a OTW Prize pack instead of boaters world gift certs.

Also, the entry fee is up $5 across the board.

They might as well lower the shore multiplier to 1:1, cause that is how the slobs will be weighed.

been there /done that .......... its impossible to have a 100% honest tournament of any size / not even the size of this one ;

never mind the good prizes awarded . but people are people & they have been cheating it fishing contest since whenever they began;;

Personally I would love to be able to weigh in fish from both and struggle each season deciding which category to enter but have gone surf the last 2 seasons. I will register for both if given the option but definitely see this as an opportunity for some people to cheat... Maybe they need to actually give a few polygraphs this year to at the very least act as a deterrent to those who might think about cheating.

Everybody is all fired up that this will allow the boat guys an opportunity to cheat......what stopped them before from doing it? Seriously, why wouldn't a boat guy just register from surf before and go fish on his boat and do it. same thing.

What this does do is allow guys to fish for both...legally. We had a guy at the club register for shore....he banged a 36 lb'er from his boat...it was worth nothing for the club. He even checked off Boat on the slip when he weighed it. A lot of people fish both and now they have the option.

No matter what...if someone wants to cheat...they'll cheat...period

Rules are for Honest people...sad, but true

and I've said it before...if you don't like the rules, don't sign up........its that easy.

I think TDF got it right what makes you think this is not going on already? I do sign up each year but feel as Clammer does if you have a tournament of most any size you get some one that NEEDS to cheat to prove he is better that anyone else. I like to join just for the fun of it and did not even weight a fish last season.

Definitely a bad idea combining the two categories. Too difficult to police.

I doubt it will make a difference you could always cheat if you really wanted to. I probably won't lose sleep over it

I agree. It sounds nice but....... The honor system north of new york doesn't seem to work to well. Wish we could learn something from those guys.

They're not really combining 2 categories......they are allowing you to participate in 2 different categories.

Like I said before.....whats the difference w/ registering a Boat caught fish as Shore before....or visa versa....

I just think there is a strong possiblity of someone trying to weigh a boat fish in the surf category. That's all. A van staal is a tempting prize. Probably even for a boat guy. Remember, there are folks fishing this tournament strictly for the prizes and could care less about the team competition or angler of the year.

But thats always been the case.....nothing ever stopped someone from registering a boat caught fish as a Surf Caught.....Now at least they have an ethical choice.

you got a good point here, but this really just opens the door even wider if you ask me. It would be incredibly suspicious if a known boat high-ligher only registered in the shore division in past years. Now, the suspicion is still there, but it is not as prominent because the guy can just say what most people would say "I fish both and don't want to lose out if I catch a good shore fish"

Nobody gets convicted on Suspicions......If a guy wants to cheat he's gonna cheat....whether this rule is here or not.

Do you really think that there would be a different perception if a Known Boat "High-Liner" registered for Shore Now as opposed to before.....Same percepetion either way.

Do you think this rule change makes an honest guy all of a sudden say "Cool, now I can cheat." Nope....he'll still play by the rules.

Again....Rules are for Honest People.

does this mean 3 anglers of the year? explains xtra cash to pay for another broken trophy.

I see your point here, but yes, I think more people are prone to cheat if they are registered in both categories. If you had no intention of cheating when you registered in both shore and boat at the beginning, then your team really needed to the shore multiplier to beat team S-B, you have an open window here to cheat now and call a boat fish a shore fish! Before, you wouldn't have had that choice if you were honest at the beginning and registered in the boat division.

If that situation presents itself to you would you do it....I'm guessing you wouldn't....why...Because you're an honest man.
