Freshwater Chum
I fish on a Lake and was wondering if chumming works in freshwater? I have caught an 8 pound striper after chumming for catfish with sour corn, milo, and range cubes, but I am not sure if it was the chum.
If so, what is a good chum? Will my catfish mix work? Any help is appreciated. |
yeah the grain chum is supposed to be the hottest chum...
whatever grain you use.....you let it ferment in the sun for about a week or two until it smells real nasty.... make sure you have tight fitting lids because you don't want to spill this stuff where you have to live like in a car or a boat.... then dump it in gingerly here and there...@ your spot.... then you can use your regular catfish baits because the catfish will definitely be hanging around and will be HUNGRY here's a link for ya http://www.whiskerkitty.com/Chumming.html |
I used to chum for catfish with cat food. I let it sit out and spoil and then froze it. Talk about a stink, but it works in big water for big catfish.

I'm talking about chumming for striped bass in freshwater.

- small pieces of mackerel -should do the trick...although we have no fresh water lakes around here to test it out on...
but we should.... |
