Yak trip to RI -soco area
hey dudes, I may be heading down to the soco area (namely Narragansett) in a couple of weeks, so I'm looking for some general info about safety and conditions. The area doesn't seem very protected to me so I'm just looking for some options.
PM's are welcomed, but not looking for your honey hole, just general areas! |
From the yak I would fish inside the salt ponds, Narrow river and some protected coves up into the bay like Wickford. Out of the yak there are more spots than you can shake a rod at. Narr. town beach can be fun in the surf esp. when the sand eels show in June.

thanks!
I know this is a surf fishing mecca and I have surf fished it in the past, but I might be heading down with some yakkers so I'm curious because I know the water can get nasty around the area |
I fish from the Yak outside, from the HOR up to Bonnet Shores, Jamestowne and everywhere in between. It's all very fishable from the yak unless there is a big heave. Send me a PM if you want to hook up when you're around and if I can I'll meet up, or at least let you know if I know anything. There are plenty of launch options also.

I also HIGHLY reccomend the salt ponds and the channels leading in to them. protected and BIG fish magnets.

i think instead of going to Narragansett, go to weekapaug, (the breachway also has pretty good sized fish) and take the breachway into the back bay, its a blast goin through, just beware of the swans, lol
