Your Biggest Fish?

What's the biggest fish you've ever caught?

10lb Bluefish. 23(give or take)lb Striper.

What about you?

RIROCKHOUND 05-31-2009 01:00 PM

who gives a sh-t?

Nate 05-31-2009 01:03 PM

Just trying to stir up some small-talk. Don't have to get angry..

Slingah 05-31-2009 01:03 PM

Hi Nate...
fish for the fun not the glory....

btw...this is BF's youngest I am guessing...

Nate 05-31-2009 01:04 PM

Yea. I got bored so I made an account on here. Dad seems to love it. Wanted to see what it's all about.

JohnR 05-31-2009 01:06 PM

I have many awards, I've been awarded the good fortune to fish with a lot of good and knowledgeable people. 3 or 4, the amount of awards I would have one in various clubs that I did not weigh a fish in because I let 'em swim away.

IN some cases awards might be nice, and some it isn't. Redlite winning OTW S-C AOY out of a thousands of anglers - that's pretty cool. Winning an awarded for larges Blackfish amongst a throng of good blackfishers, cool. Winning an award for largest club scup, well, Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder I guess :tooth:

Nate - who is your dad? Larry :tooth: ?

RIROCKHOUND 05-31-2009 01:06 PM

OK, I recind my sh-t comment.
If you are Larry's kid you will have 1000 posts by tomorrow

Nate 05-31-2009 01:09 PM

Nope. Well, depends if like it. JohnR has more posts than my Dad.

JohnR 05-31-2009 01:10 PM

Nate - take your foot off the gas pedal a little. Sit around and soak things in, your dad will 'splain....

Seriously though, welcome to S-B. There is a small reason I have more posts than your dad, he still has more posts per day than me though :hihi:

I think we've met once or twice. You taller than Knucklehead yet ?

Nate 05-31-2009 01:14 PM

Knucklehead as in... My Dad? Nope. He's got a few inches on me yet.

Yes, I say that as a good natured ribbing - I saw him a few days ago.

Backbeach Jake 05-31-2009 01:16 PM

Ask your Dad about my biggest, he was there..

Nate 05-31-2009 01:17 PM

He needs to shrink. My 16 year old brother is 1 inch shorter than Dad. I think it's funny.

Saltheart 05-31-2009 01:19 PM

I once fished in a contest where we used 23 foot rods to catch fish shorter than the distance from your wrist to your finger tips. All the fish were so close in size we decided we had to give the grand prize to the guy who caught the most. The prize was a single bottle of beer. But it was a big bottle !! At least a liter. The winner cracked it open and we all had a half a glass and toasted the winner. That's the best kind of fishing contest!

BTW this all happened a 4 hour drive to the north west of Shang Hai , China. :)

Nate 05-31-2009 01:20 PM

Jake, my dad is at work right now. When I see him I'll ask him about it. I won't see again for two weeks.

Nate 05-31-2009 01:27 PM

I'll be on later everyone.

trevier 05-31-2009 02:47 PM

Hey Nate. My biggest was a 41" caught under a wharf. (don't know the lbs but fat)It was such a blast to slide it outta there after a crazy fight. Slipped him right back in and hope he's still out there. Some of my most memorable have been half that size caught in tidal rivers on a fly rod.

fishbones 06-01-2009 08:52 AM

Welcome to the site, Nate!

My biggest was about 34 pounds, but it's not very memorable. I have many other fish that I remember much better either because of who I was fishing with, or the circumstances under which they were caught.

JoeBass 06-01-2009 10:27 AM

My son is 16 and is totally into trout and Striper fishing. Really any kind of fishing. Saturday he landed 4 nice largemouth at a local pond here in Vermont.

FishermanTim 06-01-2009 11:37 AM

After a few sessions in the ditch, and they'll be talking like sailors :biglaugh:

There's the noteable accomplishments like landing your first keeper of the season, or first 30, 40 or 50lber.
Then there are the more personal accomplishments like catching a trout or striper on a flie you tied yourself.
I bask in the glory of catching anything, or watching a newbie hook into thier first keeper. I get as much joy out of helping others enjoy fishing as I do actually fishing myself.
The key is to get out there and wet a line, everything else will come in it's own time and place.

Rockport24 06-01-2009 12:39 PM

Welcome aboard Nate! :kewl:

if you ever want to know anything, try to do a search, I'm sure everything has been dicussed at least once by now and I'm sure your Dad has posted on just about every thread you'll see!

Adam_777 06-01-2009 03:28 PM

Welcome aboard Nate ! Your not the one fishing the Salty's plugs are you ? :laugha:

The Iceman 6 06-01-2009 03:33 PM

Welcome to the show Nate.

striprman 06-02-2009 06:19 AM

Hi,
I met your dad a few years ago, fishing. So Nate, do you think you will "break" your "personal best" record this season ?

Nate 06-02-2009 07:43 PM

I think we need to trade Big Papi(David Ortiz). He stinks now. :'(
