I Gotta Share This.......
Let me premise this by saying that my 12 year old Daughter is a very smart kid.....brings home straight "A's" on her report cards....but she has a tendency to have, what me and my wife refer to as, "Blonde Moments"
So the other night I'm watching TV w/ my daughter and I flip onto TCM and they happen to be showing "A Night at the Opera". I'm a big fan of The Marx Brothers so I stop to watch it. I say to my Daughter "You'll like these guys, the Marx Brothers, they are hysterical" She says "I've heard of them....the one w/ the mustache...that's Karl, Right." I start laughing and after I explain to her who Karl Marx was, she starts laughing and realizes she just had another "Blonde Moment" So we're watching and she's asking questions about the Marx Bro's and then there's a scene w/ all 4 of them on the screen. I say "there ya go, there's Groucho, Harpo, Chico, and Zeppo" and I explain which is which and I'm explaing what they do as part of their Schticks. She asks "What does Zeppo do" I say "Not Much as far as funny....he's more of the Straight Man" and she says........... ........wait for it...... .........."You mean the other 3 were Gay" I don't know which was funnier, the movie or the conversation. just thought I'd share one of life's funnier moments |
You have to love the simple straight-forward approach to childhood humor and logic.

That's good stuff. Funny thing is, I can see myself having the same exact conversation you had with your 12 year old daughter with my 38 year old wife.

I had to post this, as it made me laugh this weekend.
I had gone to the Pawtucket Sox game Saturday afternoon. I was sitting in the centerfield bleachers. If you've ever been there, there is a concession stand in the bleachers just to the right of centerfield, with a flight of stairs connecting the two. At the base of these stairs is a Pepsi maching. During the middle innings one of the Pawsox players hit a homerun out to centerfield. The ball was headed in our direction, but landed squarely on the Pepsi machine, and bounced to the top of the stairs. I knew that there was no chance of me recovering this ball, because it had bounced up into the concession stand level, away from the bleachers. What had me laughing hysterically was that at the exact moment the ball bounced off the Pepsi maching, a fan carrying a tray of snacks and drinks turned the corner around from the concession stand onto the stairs and the ball hit the tray right out of his hands. The look on his face was priceless! My brother and his wife were looking at me like I was crazy, laughing at what they thought was "just a homer" until I explained what had happened. I only wish I had a video of that. |
Art Linkletter made a fortune interviewing kids. Kids are the best.
Someone left a rivet gun in my yard once, I told my son what it was and asked him what he thought it was for. He said shooting frogs....:rotf2: |
