Small groove in line roller? normal????

I have a ZeeBaaS ZX22RD and I am noticing a small groove developing in both line rollers (dual pickup reel). They seem to be rolling fine but I don't recall there being a little groove in there I thought it was perfecting smooth.

Jim,
I have no experience with Zee bass but that doesn't sound good or normal. Are you fishing braid?

groove in line roller

Dennis I bet he is using braid, I can't believe the line roller isn't titainium. VS cured that problem in about 2003 when they switched to titainium rollers I do belive. For that kind of $ I cannot believe he has an issue.

i had a slight groove wear in a vs roller. they replaced it free during annual maintenance. i would expect that zb would send you a new roller if you call them.

You think that maybe by Zee Baas Version 5 he'll have all the bugs out?

Assuming we haven't hit Version 5 already. :rollem:

Yeah I am using PP braid. I had the reel serviced by them this past winter. It seems fine but you can feel/see the indent. I don't think it is suppose to be there as one side has one in the middle of the roller, the other side has two that are not centered or symmetrical. I first thought it was just a mark from the braid but you can feel it with your nail if you stick your finger in there and scrape it across the roller. I sent an email to them.

Too many problems with those things. And from what I've seen and heard customer service is terrible. The bugs should have been worked out well before the price tag.

call wendy at ZB she'll take care of you.

I will give them a call today. As far as the reel goes I have had no real problems with it. IMO this is pretty minor. The service was fine, slower than Shimano's but fine otherwise. My biggest gripes are the handle and the stiff feel. What I like most about it is the performance in the sandy water and its drag. It ranks high in terms of reliability from what I see. All machinery needs maintenance.

They are sending (UPSing) me 2 new ones today (free). That sounds like decent customer service.
They said they were surprised to hear that as so far have only had 1or 2 line rollers come back for wear like that. I told her I would send the old ones back for them to look at.

Great customer service. Do you think those grooves were caused by those freight trains that spooled you awhile back?

nah...that was a different reel when that happened. Actually I wish it was that reel, I think it holds more line :)
