Food or Foe ?

I read this somewhere how may stipers have you caught that have one or more eels in there stomach?
do you think that the eel is food or a enemy of the Striper and that they just kill them ? :fishin:

Food. We got into some nice fish last night and they were inhaling eels. If you gave it the 3-4 count the hook set was in the throat. We had to cut it to a 1-2 count. These fish were hungry and wanted eels for dinner.

Defiently food! I have found about a half dozen bass with eels in them. I think we dont see more cause we mostly fish the open ocean and eels are in ponds , rivers and tidal areas. I bet if you put a lot of time in fishing where the eels lived , you would see even more in their bellies.

Food, and just convenient food at that...
if I could buy macks or pogies at a bait shop, carry them in a soft cooler with no water and cast/retrieve them all night w/o them dying... I'd use that...
eels just happen to be angler friendly live-bait... fish eels side-by side a good chunker (using whole squid) in May and see what they really like to eat :D

Eels are a comfort food for bass , from when they were born/growing in rivers and estuaries.
