I am pretty sure there is something in place, same as with your cell phones if you want to hide the number, that you can do to hide your number before you call. I think you can still initiate a trace by hitting star 57 after they hang up and then calling the phone company for more info.

one phone to only call out ........ is the land line

one phone to call in is the cell

when you answer the cell ..... you do not speak

only listen

the preferred caller has 5 seconds to say the password

or you hang up....

record a dial up modem sound and they'll hear it and cross you off their list

Scott...a good buddy of mine has an autobody shop... he covers the phone during "lunch hour"..when his gal in the office, and #1 body man take lunch....
I was there, (on my lunch break) looking thru his crash book for a part, and he answers the phone...

(he rolls his eyes)...than...

"Look... shut up and listen... I got a bunch of cows here, and your # is recorded on my caller ID....everytime I get any more calls from this number..... A COW WILL DIE!"...

He hangs up...
I look over and go WTF??..

he is laughing... he says there is no doubt in my mind that guy was calling from India...and right before I hung up, I heard him say..."Oh NO SIR...PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT!"....

i tell them i was was watching porn and they just interrupted the money shot.usually dead silence.

I usually ask them for their normal working hours, then tell em too bad those hours don't work for me if you kindly leave me your home number I will call you back at your dinner time.
