Peanuts Anyone???
Is anyone seeing any peanut bunker out there this season as yet???
i dont think I saw a single peanut last year. They were scarce around these parts. Wonder what this year will bring. But I havent seen any as of yet.
NOPE ...just sand eels ><><
same here sand eels, small herring but no peanuts yet
Saw a small school a few weeks ago, never to be seen again.
It's not looking good once again this year. Butterfish are here though, so for now, that's our deep bodied baitfish here in Newport. |
none here at all in matunuck. same as last year. i do wonder.
i remember 5-6 years ago there would be massive blitzes on peanuts. not anymore...
We have them here on LI. The ones on the north shore are about 1.5 inches.
Saw them in the canal earlier this week. Not many. Small herring are most abundant there.
Seen some in the river but not anything crazy.
Their in on the southside of Falmouth. A lot more than last year (doesn't take much to do that). Hopefully they stick around.

Yeah we finally got peanuts in Newport ! I was lucky enough to be in a boat today whackin Albies on //guess what? They were spittin up tiny peanuts ,inside and outside of Narr Bay.This is great news because in addition to the tinker macks and sandeels, add this to the mix and it is setting up for a nice fall.:jump:

We got into some bones and boohoos on Coxes and they were spitting up 2-3" butterfish, 5" squid and what appeared to be small herring BTW, Joe - we hit BI first and got into bass and I hooked - and lost.....a real nice bass on that black Wobblehead tube over the SW side We were trolling red tubes and getting gorilla blues on them so I swapped out to the Wobblehead tube figuring it was a closer match to the sandeels, put a 1 oz egg ahead of the swivel to get it right down on the bottom and under the blues - and bang! I was using that stout JK Fisher boat rod I picked up from Back Beach last Fall that I showed you and it bent it in half - man, I was bummed when it came unbuttoned, it was a helluva nice fish, couldn't move or turn it when it first hit Ya know - that damned Wobblehead rigged a bunch of different ways has gotten me more fish this season than anything else in my bag - glad I took the tube version out with me this morning Thanks, Uncle Joe...:kewl: Boy, you old guys really know your stuff...:laughs: |
Crafty went boat fishing? Good lord, what is this world coming to....

He was gonna get 4 but Reggie Fountain talked him out of it - I guess you have to figure that during turns the outboard engine on the other side is gonna be spinning free and a leg for them runs $8K or so...X 2... She does pretty good on 3 - 50 MPH at 4200 RPM, from the dock to the Block in about 25 minutes...and unbelievably quiet Hey, like the king of clams said, it's better than sex 'cause it lasts longer Hell, I'd be pretty disappointed going on a 3 minute fishing trip...:rotflmao: |
crafty has gone over to the real dark side. 3 300 hrs. mercs?
