targeting pollock

i've always just caught them as bycatch while groundfishing. seems to be a fair amount being caught commercially now. how deep water should i be looking for these badboys? want to bust out some lighter tackle and have some fun

great bass bait, I don't think this is what your looking for, but sabiki's around the cans off green green harbor to the bell bouy worked well in years past.

not looking for harbor pollock - looking for bigguns :uhuh:

the only pollack I've targeted on purpose is harbor pollack for bait with sabikis.
One thing I've noticed when cod fishing if you find a school of pollack, they will hang 20 feet or so off the bottom.

can you catch the little harbor ones in the winter?

I know every time I go out codfishing and we get into them, they are quite a fight. I also agree that they are above the bottom many times and "squiding" is a great way to get them.
